Austin – Northwest

These terrific neighborhoods of homes, townhomes, and condominiums include developments known as Northwest Hills, Highland Hills, Westover Hills, Cat Mountain, Cat Mountain Villas, North Cat Mountain, Vista West, Shinoak Valley, Edwards Mountain, Jester Estates, Great Hills, Oak Forest, Barrington Oaks, Canyon Mesa, Sierra Vista, Balcones Woods, and Angus Valley. Development began in the mid-1960’s. A few remaining home sites are available for custom homes. Much of the area is hilly, offering great views of the Texas Hill Country and distant views of Lake Austin from some of the lots. Houses range from 1,800 to 5,000 square feet. Located in the heart of Northwest Hills, is the Dell Jewish Community Center.

Beautiful hills, views of Lake Austin, and nature trails attract residents to this area, located only minutes from the Arboretum shopping area, many hotels and movie theaters, great roadways, Lake Austin and Lake Travis. The Balcones Canyon Land Preserve is here, saving much of Austin’s hill country.

Golf courses abound here with Balcones Country Club and Great Hills Country Club. Shopping opportunities area everywhere, including the Arboretum and Arboretum Market, Gateway, and more. Seton Hospital Northwest is close by.

Round Rock Independent School District (RRISD) public schools include:
Elementary schools: Spicewood, Cathy Caraway (North Oaks), and Laurel Mountain.
Middle schools: Canyon Vista.
High schools: Westwood. Westwood offers the International Baccalaureate program.

Private schools in the area include:

Austin Montessori School
Austin Jewish Academy
