Austin – East

This area extends east and northeast from The University of Texas at Austin and downtown. Mueller, a new “city within the city,” hosts the Dell Children’s Hospital and housing community with shopping, 140 acres of parks, and businesses. Established subdivisions include Delwood, University Hills, Windsor Park, French Place and Wilshire Woods, Glenwood, Uplands, and Oak Lawn.

Just east of downtown across I-35 tremendous redevelopment is ongoing, with lots of “Green Building,” urban architecture and condominium projects and wonderful local restaurants. The city’s Millennium Youth Entertainment Complex is located here, close to the Eastview Austin Community College campus.

In the northeast part of Austin are areas of tremendous growth, sparked by the high tech companies, including,SamsungApplied Materials, and a part of Dell. In and around Pflugerville, once a small town, are many recent subdivisions and parks. Highway 130 runs through here, with much new development occurring along its right-of-way. Walter E. Long Lake (Decker Lake) provides area fisherman with hours of fun.

Neighborhoods include Four Seasons, Windsor Hills, City of Manor, Harris Branch, Brookhollow, Settler’s Ridge, Heatherwilde, Gatlinburg, and Meadows at Trinity Crossing.

Austin Independent School District (AISD) public schools include:
Elementary schools: AndrewsMetzNormanMatthewsBlantonPecan Springs, Winn, Campbell, Maplewood, Harris, Sims, Ortega, Govalle, Blackshear, Oak Springs, Sanchez, Allan, and Zavala.
Middle schools: Pearce, Bailey, Dobie, Martin, and Kealing. Kealing is a magnet for math and science.
High schools: Austin, McCallum, Johnston, Garza, Reagan, and LBJ. McCallum is home to the Fine Arts Academy. LBJ is home to the Liberal Arts and Science Academy.
